LEARNing objectives
What will you learn?
Learn to apply integrated modelling and planning approaches to tackle the complex challenges of water, energy, and food systems.

Apply Systems Thinking and System Dynamics

Use system dynamics principles to model feedback loops, stocks, and flows within WEF systems and understand their broader implications.

Understand and Apply the ONEPlanET Modelling Toolkit

Learn how the WEF models within the ONEPlanET toolkit were developed, and how to navigate and apply the toolkit to explore resource interlinkages, assess trade-offs, and support decision-making.

Tackle Data and Downscaling Challenges

Understand key challenges in data collection and processing, including working with geolocated and national datasets, downscaling techniques, and unit harmonisation.
our team
Meet the instructors
The ONEPlanET Academy is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners with expertise in water, energy, food systems, and integrated modelling approaches, drawing on their experience from the ONEPlanET project and beyond.
Janez Sušnik
Associate Professor at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education
Expert in water-energy-food nexus systems with 10+ years of research and teaching experience. He applies qualitative and quantitative methods at various scales and is involved in the Horizon Europe ONEPLanET project, NWO CONNEXION project, and coordinates H2020 NEXOGENESIS.
Sara Masia
Agricultural scientist at IHE Delft and CMCC-IAFES
Sara, an expert in agrometeorology and the WEFE nexus, holds a PhD on climate change impacts in Mediterranean agriculture. She’s contributed to projects like SIM4NEXUS and Horizon 2020, and currently works with IHE Delft and CMCC-IAFES on climate resilience and water management.
Graham Jewitt
Professor of Hydrology and the Vice Rector at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education
Graham leads research on water systems and capacity building for resource management at IHE Delft. His work focuses on science-driven policy development, the water-food-energy nexus, and climate change adaptation. He has published 120+ articles and supervised many PhD and MSc students globally.
